Target: £750.00
Raised so far: £1,445.00
An extract from Lauren's Just Giving Page: "
For some crazy reason last May, I thought it would be a good idea to set myself a challenge and as I never do things by halves I thought the Brighton Marathon would be a good start so i signed up!
I am currently training hard and looking forward to (or not!!!) the challenge of running 26miles on 10th April 2011. Yes, I have started having running nightmares! But what it helping keep motivated is the charity I am supporting - League of Friends Of Hurstwood Park Neurological Centre, Haywards Heath.
The charity means a lot to me and I am doing this in memory of my sister Rebecca Jones who sadly died of a Brain Tumour 20 years ago (aged 11) and another dear friend of mine who was treated at Hurstwood Park. The hospital helps, Patients & Relatives, Surgeons & Staff and all amenities of the Centre, which cares for Brain Tumours, Aneurysms, Strokes, Road Traffic Accidents, M.S., Alzheimer's, Motor Neurone Disease, etc.
So please dig deep and donate now. It is for a very good cause!!!
Thank you and wish me luck...i'll need it : )

BIS MONITOR (Bispectral Index Monitor) - £5,025.00
A BIS Monitor has recently been purchased by the LoF for Hurstwood Park. A BIS Monitor measures the amount of activity in the brain, using special electrodes. This allows the Doctors and Nurses to see how much sedation is needed to give and to keep patients in a coma (it varies from individuals) The Monitor also gives continuous readings and alarms to alert staff if there is any change in brain activity.
It is also used in Theatre where the Anaesthetist uses it to ensure that they are giving enough antaesethic so patients are not aware of the operations.
More news on how the funds were raised will appear here shortly (Site Admin).
